November 12, 2010, is
a day I will never forget! It's the day I got engaged to my best friend. It was
such an exciting day, and such a great story! We had only been dating since
April, so I'm sure a lot of people thought it was rather quick to be making
such a commitment, but I guess when you know, you know! AND I KNEW! I think the
story is so romantic, and I'm excited to share it with you. At the time, I was
still recruiting for Georgia Southern in the Atlanta area, so most every week
during the fall semester, I was gone Sunday through Friday. Warren would always
drop me off at the school, and come with our dog Elle' to pick me up. We would
then drop my stuff and the dog off, and go to El Sombrero. It was really kind
of a tradition that lasted for about 10 weeks while I was on the road. Sounds
routine, but it was super fun, and I can't tell you how much I looked forward
to being home each and every week. I missed Warren and Elle' so! Well November
12th started out as any other day. I had a couple of high school visits and
then made the long drive home back to Statesboro from Atlanta down I 16. I
ended up leaving a bit sooner than I thought, which excited me, but I found out
later, Warren was panicked that he wouldn't get back to the school with the
ring in time. Well I finally made my way back to Statesboro, and of course,
Warren and Elle were there waiting. It's funny because usually Elle' didn't get
out the car. We saw each other long enough for a hug, kiss and for Warren to
throw my stuff in the back and head out. This day, however, Warren and Elle'
both came to the car to greet me, which I thought was kinda funny. Warren was
acting kinda strange and just being really slow. I thought, "Good
gracious, let's get my stuff and bounce. El Som is calling my name." I
think I actually said that. Haha. You could definitely tell something was up. I
just kept saying "Are you okay" and "Let's hurry up and
go"...little did I know he was about to change my life forever. I turned
around to lock the door to my GSU station wagon, and when I turned back around,
there he was on one knee with Elle right beside him. I was overcome with shock
and excitement. All I could do was say, "Really?" and "Are you
serious." He asked me right then and there in the parking lot with our dog
to be his wife! It was the most romantic thing I've ever seen or much less experienced.
Once I said yes, and accepted the proposal, we immediately started calling
friends and family and went inside to my office to tell everyone! It was so
exciting, and I love my ring! I'm pregnant right now, and my hands are so
swollen that I can't wear it. I can't wait to be able to wear it again! I found
out later that Warren had actually planned to propose the next day on our trip
to Savannah, but he said that once he picked up the ring in Savannah, he
couldn't wait until the next day! Here are a few pictures from that day once we
got home, and some from the following evening in Savannah where we went to
celebrate! What a joyous day, and I thank God each and every day for putting
Warren in my life! I'm so glad and blessed that Warren picked ME!
