Christmas 2010 was a
special season! It was the first Christmas that me and Warren would spend as a
"couple," and it was our first engaged Christmas. We had just gotten
engaged on November 12th, so it was definitely still new, and we were still
celebrating! That year we started establishing all of our Christmas traditions,
which we still do now. The first one is to go to Truitt Farms in Effingham
County and pick out a Christmas tree. Growing up, my family always had
artificial trees, so this was a different experience for me, but one that I now
look forward to every single year!
We also started our
tradition of exchanging Christmas ornaments. This is my favorite thing about
gifts at Christmas! We get each other new ornaments every year, and we also
collect them from places that we travel too! We have quite a collection and it
just continues to grow each year. I love decorating for Christmas, but I really
enjoy getting the ornaments out and looking at each one of them as we put them
on the tree and thinking about that special memory!
The little drummer boy ornament...I love that song! |

And we exchange gifts,
which is really fun! A new blazer and a panini maker!
My Nana's side of the
family also does a Christmas family reunion at my parent's house every year! It
was such a treat to get to see everyone!
We also attend
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at my home church!
And what a treat...it
snowed that year!
We also went to Augusta to Lights of the South. Even living in Millen, I had never been before...what a treat!
This year, along with every Christmas, was very memorable, but especially so because it was our first Christmas together. We have kept up most all of the traditions we started back in 2010, and I can't wait for this Christmas to spend it as a family with our new baby! What a great gift from God! We are so blessed!
