~Our New Home~

On July 26, 2013, we bought my dream home on Wilmington Island, which is right between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island. I absolutely love it! It's an older home, but was in excellent condition and really didn't need any updates. But, let me start with the back story.

During the early summer of 2013, Warren and I decided that we were ready to buy a home and sell the condo that we were living in. We had been slowly looking around the Statesboro and Brooklet area, but hadn't really found anything yet. The goal at that point was to be in a new home by Christmas. One morning, I randomly woke up and told Warren that I wanted to move to Savannah. Well, needless to say, he was ecstatic, as this was the place he grew up. I just told him that my only condition was that we would find something on one of the islands. We immediately started researching. That Saturday morning, Warren, Elle' and I hopped in the car and headed to Savannah. We had found about 10 houses between Whitmarsh Island, Wilmington Island and Skidaway, that we wanted to drive-by, and then decided from there which ones we wanted to "get the tour" of. We rode by most of the houses and decided they just weren't for us....until the last one on the list. We rode by this beautiful brick house in the Wilmington Park neighborhood, and I immediately fell in love with it.  It had a large front yard and a large back yard, and I could immediately see myself and my family living here. I could see children playing, and Warren and I growing old together. It was just a glance, but it was all it took. Of course, we didn't have an appointment and no one was home, so we just rode by about 1,000 times, and made the call. The very next week, we made arrangements to drive to Savannah to meet the owner's son. Once I walked into the house, it just confirmed what I already knew. I WANTED THIS HOUSE!!! Warren said we couldn't be too desperate and look too eager, so I had to stand away and do my own thing, while the whole time giving Warren the look like, "Don't you mess this up!!!!"

One thing led to another, and we decided to move forward with the purchase that day, and started putting things in motion. Before we left that afternoon to head back to Statesboro, the son asked us how we knew about this house being up for sale, as there was a For Sale By Owner sign in the front yard. We told him that we found it online through a real estate sight and had written it down. He told us that there was no way that was possible, because he didn't have the house listed. The only thing he had was the sign in the front yard. Weird... Warren and I just took that as God's way of leading us to this house and would soon become our home!

I have to say a special thank you to my parents who helped us put a lot of things in motion in a really short amount of time! AND...of course a very special thank you to Warren, who bought me the house of my dreams. It wouldn't have been possible without him, and he worked so hard throughout the summer getting things ready and attending inspections, etc.

There are no words to describe how much I love coming home everyday! I love the home we have built together, and as I cross that bridge onto our island every day, all things seem right in the world. We are expecting a baby girl in August of this year, and I can't wait to watch her grow up here! What special memories we will make as a family! We surely are blessed!

Our very own palm tree right in our front yard!

We are homeowners!!
